The Badirile Early Childhood Development Centre, located in Brandvlei, provides education and daycare services to the local community. The school was founded in 2008 by Maria Mabele in her mother’s house and moved to its current premises in 2010. Classes are held in specially designed containers, with a capacity for 75 children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years. The centre also provides meals for all the children.
Due to limited government funding, the centre has struggled to maintain its facilities, leading to significant maintenance needs over time. Towards the end of 2023, the team from Harties Hatchery learned about the centre’s plight and promptly got involved. They installed new floors in the classrooms, addressed electrical issues, upgraded the kitchen and toilet facilities, and replaced playground equipment and shade netting. Additionally, the entire hatchery team painted the fencing and other areas, giving the centre a refreshed look.
The team has committed to ongoing involvement, and the Badirile Centre was the main beneficiary of the annual Bellevue Chix Golf Day held in May 2024.
